Subhash is a newly posted sub-inspector in Chennai, keen to do the job properly and quick to lose patience with people who expect the law to bend for them. It puts him at odds with his own inspector more than once.

A young woman's death is written up as suicide. Subhash reads the scene differently, follows a phone record and arrives at four young men.

Their fathers are a media owner, a district collector, a gold merchant and a scientist, and the four are entirely calm about what they have done. They show Subhash the proof themselves, certain that nothing will ever come of it.
