In 1983 a young couple are driving to their lawyer's office to end their marriage when their car is wrecked beside a clock tower. Their six-year-old son is left on his own.

Thirty years later that son is a wealthy businessman who comes across two strangers wearing his parents' faces: a young man and a woman who have never met. He quietly sets about pushing the two of them together.

Near the same clock tower he meets a doctor, and an injured old man who looks at the pair of them and recognises his own parents. Every generation is trying to mend what the one before it left broken.
