Raja Hindustani1996

Aarti Sehgal comes from money, and comes alone to Palankhet looking for the hill station her late mother used to talk about. The taxi she hires belongs to Raja, who drives it himself and has no interest in being anyone's servant.

They spend the holiday together and marry, over the loud objection of Aarti's father, who cannot see past what Raja earns. He relents, and the couple move to Mumbai with her family.

There Aarti's stepmother Shalini wants the family's wealth for herself. She tells Aarti that Raja resents her, and tells Raja that Aarti wants a divorce, and neither of them thinks to check.
