Raghavaraju farms in Atreyapuram and keeps an old joint household running with his wife Janakamma, though the rooms have been quiet for ten years. Their three children live abroad now, each in a small family of their own, and the visits have stopped coming.

Then an email reaches all of them at once: their parents intend to separate. The children fly home for Sankranti, unsettled, to work out what has gone wrong between two people who never argued.

What waits for them is a village they left behind, a cousin named Nithya whom Raju has not seen since childhood, and a reason for that email which none of them has guessed.
