Balu drives a taxi in Hyderabad and picks more fights than the work requires. One morning he finds a boy in the back of his car, a child called Rajan with nobody looking for him, and Balu and his father simply keep him.

The arrangement holds until men take Rajan and drive him east into Odisha. Balu learns then that the boy is heir to a foundation, and that Vikram Sarkar wants the estate along with the papers that prove who owns it.

Balu goes after them with Sridevi, a sub-inspector who would rather arrest him, and two musicians with nowhere better to be.
