Babu is orphaned young and raised by Sultan, a criminal who trains him into a thief known as Badshah. A jewellery robbery brings him to Sapna, a street performer, and for the first time he wants a life outside the work he is good at.

After a train accident he finds a small boy alone in the wreckage and takes him home. Sapna assumes the child is his, and Badshah lets her believe it, burying his old name to work as an honest labourer.

Seven years of quiet end when the boy's real parents trace him to his school, and the men from his old life come looking for what they are owed.
