Khakhi Aur Khiladi2014

Kathir is a thief in a Kolkata prison who helps the police catch another escaping inmate, then gets out himself. In Chennai he plans a run to Bangkok with his friend Ravi.

Then men shoot a stranger on the street who has Kathir's face. The man is Jeeva; Kathir gets him to hospital and takes his name, and the two friends walk into the old-age home Jeeva runs, meaning to leave with the money kept there.

What Kathir finds instead is the work Jeeva left unfinished: a dry village in Tirunelveli, groundwater under the villagers' fields, and an entrepreneur named Chirag holding land papers he obtained by fraud.
